About us – Sabor Latino Dance Academy
At Sabor Latino, we do more than teach dance, we create a space where rhythm becomes emotion and movement becomes expression. From Cuban salsa and On2 style to the joyful Dominican merengue, we invite you to step into a world where every class is unique and every beat brings something new.
What started as a dream in late 2021 became reality on February 25th, 2022, when we opened our first location with hope, hard work, and a deep passion for Latin dance. With just basic salsa and no flashy moves, we began building our community and thanks to our students’ energy and trust, we grew step by step.
Driven by dedication, we expanded our classes to include bachata, merengue, and Cuban son, always focused on what our students needed: connection, fun, and real dancing with real flavor.
In 2023, we took things to the next level with our first student excursion over 50 dancers joined us on an unforgettable trip to ¨Cayo Arena¨, dancing by the sea, laughing under the sun, and celebrating life through music. The same year brought countless social dance events, unforgettable moments, and a growing community full of rhythm and heart.
By mid-2025, it was time to grow again and we opened our second location in Puerto Plata, bringing the same passion, purpose, and flavor, but with a new goal: to share the Sabor Latino experience with tourists looking for something real, vibrant, and full of culture.
SALSA
Salsa
Salsa is culture, passion, and history you can dance to. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned dancer, our salsa classes are designed to take you on a journey through rhythm, connection, and technique.
We teach all styles, from Cuban salsa and Rueda de casino, to the smooth control of On2 and the street-style salsa that Dominicans dance with unmatched joy and flavor.
BACHATA
Bachata
Born in the Dominican streets, bachata is full of soul, warmth, and emotion. When we teach bachata, we don’t just focus on steps we bring out the feeling. Whether you’re into classic Dominican footwork, what we call “los pasos prohibidos,” or a more sensual and modern flow, you’ll find your style and confidence in every class.
MERENGUE
Merengue
Merengue is the heartbeat of the Dominican Republic. It’s simple to learn but full of challenge and joy. With just four steps, merengue connects generations, lights up every room, and brings pure happiness.
At Sabor Latino, every merengue class is a burst of life. We’ll show you how to move not just your feet, but your whole body with attitude, rhythm, and soul. Because merengue isn’t just danced it’s lived.
CUBAN SON
Cuban Son
Cuban Son is the elegant foundation of Latin dance rich in culture, rhythm, and character.
Every step tells a story, every movement holds tradition. In our classes, we teach the structured, syncopated rhythm of Son without losing its essence a dance of poise, presence, and powerful musicality.
To dance Son is to pay tribute to the origins and we do it with passion, precision, and deep respect for its legacy.
